For sale is a Winchester Model 1897 pump-action shotgun in 16ga. Serial number – 146778. Mfg Dated: 1901! This shotgun is in very good condition especially considering it is over 120 years old! However, there some surface rust on the barrel, and there are a couple of large cracks in the stock near the receiver. The choke is a fixed MOD. The Winchester Model 1897 is a legendary American shotgun. Designed by John Browning. The pump-action design gave a less expensive option for hunters in the early 20th century. The 1897 would later serve in the US military during WWI and WWII. It was passed out to experienced trap shooters to blast grenades being tossed at US troops during WWI and the German military tried to have the shotgun outlawed in warfare due to its slam firing ability. Whether in the hands of a soldier or hunter the Winchester Model 1897 has made its mark on American history.
