This Model 1000 features a 28" barrel with a 2 3/4" chamber, modified choke, improved cylinder and full choke . This Model 1000 has a good bore and the wood is in good condition with some minor dings and surface wear consistent with the age of this shotgun. The Smith & Wesson Model 1000 is a semi-automatic shotgun offered in 12 and 20 gauge by Smith & Wesson during the 1970s and 1980s. The shotguns were developed and manufactured for S&W in Japan by Howa Machinery. The reason the Model 1000 performs when other autoloaders fail is the patented internal gas metering system that compensates for pressure differences in ammunition to control bolt velocity and minimize stress on the receiver and action.
