For sale is a Savage Model 99E lever-action rifle in .308 Win. Serial number – A444631. Mfg Dated: 1970. This rifle is in good condition. Please note that there is a repaired crack at the toe of the buttstock as well as a cracked butt plate. Promoted as the "First Choice for Big Game," was a modified version of his Model 1895. The Model 1895 was itself an improved version of the Model 1892 rifle (never produced), which was a joint project of Savage and Colt. It is a right-side ejection, hammerless action with a rounded, streamlined receiver shape. The action is enclosed in a solid steel receiver designed to protect the shooter from any possible trouble. This was the top-of-the-line rifle during its hay day and its rotary internal magazine was revolutionary. This is a true vintage rifle still ready to take on hunting trips.
