For sale is a Romanian SKS semi-automatic rifle in 7.62×39. Serial number- EF1726. This rifle is in great condition and comes with the original Soviet-style bayonet and a sling. First developed by the Soviet Union in 1945. It was to late to make any impact in WWII and it was quickly replaced by the AK-47 two years later. However, it did make a difference in allowing the Soviets to share the design with other allied/communist nations before they were ready to share the AK-47 design. The Romanian Cugir factory had manufacturing dates range from 1957 on to 1960, so 4 years total production. A realistic estimated number that seems more plausible may be around 77k +/- 20k, this number is based of estimates of known serial prefixes and serial numbers. And during the time these were imported, only a small percentage came to US shores. So when compared with a Russian, Yugoslavian and Chinese, these rifles are not all that common.
