For sale is a Marlin 1895 LTD IV in .45-70 Govt. Serial number- IV000383. This 1895 is in great condition for its ripe age of 23! .45-70 Blued ballard rifling 24" Full octagon barrel. Straight grip walnut stocks. Special run by Marlin for Davidsons 1001 made, made in 2000. Marlin believed—correctly—that there were plenty of hunters who still bought into the big-bore-is-better concept. Many woods hunters especially found that high-velocity, scope-sighted rifles were more of a hassle than an asset in their hunting grounds. So in 1972 it sort of reintroduced the Model 1895 rifle. This time, however, the big rifle was based entirely within the Model 336 family of receivers. Please note, it appears that most of the bluing has been removed from the metal surfaces. Remnants of the original bluing can be seen around the front sight and forend.
