Imperial M1895 Nagant – 7.62×38

Imperial M1895 Nagant – 7.62×38

$780.00

For sale is an Imperial Nagant M1895 single-action revolver in 7.62x38mmR. Serial number – 35480. Mfg Dated: 1905. Very rare find! This revolver is in good condition considering its age. There is surface pitting on the barrel cylinder and frame plus most of the finish is gone. However, This is a rare example of a Pre-Soviet M1895 Nagant revolver in the Private's Model, meaning it was single-action only. After the Soviets took power most single-action M1895s were converted to double-action like the Officer's model, making this a rare and collectible piece! We do not believe it has an import mark but there is a "RUSSIAN" stamp on the frame near the barrel. We have not seen another example of a stamp like this and do not know if it was a form of Import mark before the US government started requiring them. PLEASE NOTE: The serial on the cylinder does not match the frame and barrel. It has a serial number 34515 along with other Russian manufacturer marks. It is only a few hundred numbers off and the cylinder looks like it has aged with the gun. The patina age/wear is the same as the rest of the revolver. It was probably changed out relatively early on the revolver's history.

This iconic Russian pistol was adopted by Imperial Russia and later the Soviet Union. It served Russia during World War I and World War II. A unique feature of the M1895 Nagant is the cylinder that slides forward and seals the cylinder gap. The sealing feature also made it possible to suppress the revolver marking the sidearm as the first suppressible revolver.
