For sale is a Colt Government Model 1911 semi-automatic pistol in .45 ACP. Serial number- 2808878. This 1911 is in good condition and comes with the original case, manual, cable lock and 2 magazines. The Series 80 was a monstrous success on both the commercial and military/law enforcement markets and promptly replaced the Series 70. The design spread to virtually every other manufacturer of 1911 as well, until almost all of the 1911s being sold on the market, regardless of manufacturer, could trace themselves to a Series 80 design. Even today whilst the Series 70 has been making a comeback, the overwhelming majority of 1911s sold are a Series 80 variant.
