Colt Frontier Six Shooter – Single Action Army 1st Gen – .44-40
$2,499.00
For sale is an all-matching Colt Single Action Army revolver in .44-40 Win. Serial number-181358. This old revolver comes as-is with no extras, and after running a serial number lookup, we've determined it was manufactured in 1898. Some of the stamps appear to be light so we think the revolver may have been refinished or restored. This revolver is in overall fantastic condition. The bore has some pitting but the rifling is still clear and visible and is in great condition considering the revolver was manufactured over 120 years ago. It also sports 4 1/4 inch barrel, the lock-up is tight and the timing is fantastic. The famous cocking sound and cylinder clicks of this revolver are amazing!
The Colt Single Action Army is one of the most recognizable and replicated handguns in history. However, this Frontier Six Shooter is the real deal, not a Post-WWII or movie replica. In fact, the Colt Frontier Six shooters were chambered in .44-40 Winchester rather than the usual .45 Colt. So that lawmen, cowboys, and frontiersmen traveling and settling the western United States had a round that could be used in both their rifle and their revolver. The combo of Winchester Model 1887 or 1892 with a Colt Single Action Army chambered in .44-40 was the most common rifle/revolver combo found in the Old West. It is time to add this revolver to the collection! V2-D4 Barrel Length: 4.25 Bore condition: Good Year Manufactured: 1898
