Colt DA 38 Model 1892 – .38 LC

Colt DA 38 Model 1892 – .38 LC

$1,599.00

For sale is a Colt DA 38 Model 1892 double-action revolver in .38 Long Colt. Serial number- 9543. This revolver is in good condition especially considering its age. This is a 1st year production of this revolver with a 4 digit serial and 1892 manufacture date according to Colt serial records. There is finish wear on the barrel and frame but the bore looks fantastic. The finish has aged into a nice patina. It has a US inspector’s marking R.A.C. (Rinaldo A. Carr) on both frame, barrel, cylinder, and the butt of both wood grip panels and L.E.B. (Captain Leroy E. Briggs) inspection mark.

In 1892, the revolver was adopted by the United States Army chambered for .38 Long Colt cartridges, and was given the appellation "New Army and Navy". Initial experience with the gun caused officials to request some improvements. This would be an ongoing condition, resulting in Models 1892, 1894, 1896, 1901, and 1903 for the Army, as well as a Model 1895 for the Navy and a Model 1905 Marine Corps variant. We believe this particular revolver is a US Military firearm due the military inspection marks, not a commercial.
