Colt 1911 US Army w/ BOX! – .45 ACP

$2,499.00

For sale is a Colt 1911 semi-automatic pistol in .45 ACP. Serial number- 480688. This 1911 is in great condition. Comes with a Risdon Tool & Machine Co. magazine and the original box shipped from the Anniston Army Depot in Anniston, Alabama. Has "AA" stamp meaning it has been rebuilt or inspected at the arsenal by Augusta Arsenal. This 1911 was manufactured in 1918 and was likely sold and shipped around the late to early 1960's to NRA members at the time. At the bottom right of the DD form it says, "NRA VOUCHER NO. 187982". Older retired 1911's were offered to NRA members for "target shooting" because a membership in the NRA was required in order for a civilian to compete at the Camp Perry National Matches. .45 ACP pistols were offered to members for shooting in the "service pistol" category. The NRA magazine, The American Rifleman, would print a notice that a certain firearm was available from the DCM, and the members could mail in a request for one, along with a US Postal money order. Once the DCM office in Washington received the paperwork, they'd issue a ship order to one of the Army Arsenals with the firearm in stock. When they got to your order, they'd pull the next firearm and ship it directly to you.
