This is a no reserve penny auction for a Smith & Wesson Victory Revolver in .38 S&W. Serial number- V283024. A large number of .38 Victory and pre-Victory guns were imported from outside the United States after the war. This particular revolver has no import marks or any foreign stamps, indicating it was not a lend-lease and was used by American Forces (most likely Army Air Force or US Navy). It comes with a shoulder holster and two speed loaders. The Victory model was so named for the "V" prefix which was placed before the serial number and represented "Victory" against the Axis powers in World War II. The Victory Revolver was produced during World War II, it is a variation of the Military & Police Model. The SN matches on the cylinder as well as the butt, under the barrel, and on the grips. "V" series from V-1 to around V-769,000. All were made between 1940 to 1945. Guns made after we got into the war (early 1942 and later) are marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY GHD" on the left side of the top strap as this revolver is marked.
